SHAPE 3 : JULY 2022

Shape, “Art and Health Justice” was a virtual residency for artists and healthcare professionals.

The theme of the third Shape residency was “Art and Health Justice.”

Five evening Zoom gatherings: July 5, 12, 19, 26 and August 2

Shape was a virtual artist residency series designed to nurture the often intangible aspects of artists’ work, addressing topics that extend beyond the studio walls into our lives, communities, and ethical frameworks.

Shape: Art and Health Justice invited overlaps between the practices of art and health, facilitating a crossover in- and outside of formal healthcare structures to support health justice initiatives. Artists and healthcare professionals were encouraged to participate.

To maintain a brave virtual space, participation was limited to 20 people. We encouraged all artists and healthcare professionals to sign up.

Shape was FREE* and is conducted in English and American Sign Language.

Presented in collaboration with the DUBS Foundation with support from the Alabama State Council on the Arts.

We offered this residency series free of charge, and paid all contributors a fair wage for their labor.
